Graduate Profile: Scott Rayburn

My name is Scott Rayburn. I have now been blessed with the opportunity to graduate from this wonderful Reformed Baptist Seminary. My time in the Seminary has provided me with a renewed spirit to worship God in everything. As an older adult, entering into this endeavor was daunting. The guidance provided by Dean Gonzales and the irrepressible Vadim Chepurny has been invaluable. As I move into the world with the knowledge that was bestowed on me, I feel ready to serve the Lord with so much more clarity.

Yes, I started late. After hearing a whisper of a call in my teens, I somehow ignored it and became a firefighter. After a 25 year career, I retired and stayed close to the profession by moving into emergency management, where I have been working in higher education now for over 10 years. I am currently at a very liberal college in Florida, and I see directly what is happening to our young people. We all have work to do!

God has called me into ministry in several areas. I am active at LifePointe Church in Eustis, Florida, where I am in the rotation of teachers presenting God's Word to a small group. I also work with our cold weather homeless shelter and envision expanding that work with the homeless and the lost into the community. Additionally, I am participating in mission work in Central Europe, supporting and sharing God’s word in an otherwise secular society.

God has provided me with so much. I am married to a beautiful and supportive woman, Margaret. I have four wonderful children, Megan, Joseph, Caroline, and Violet. I also have two amazing grandchildren, Leo and Layla.

My walk with the Lord is not over. I will continue to worship God and study His word.

Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God
