From February 13-15, 2020, Reformed Baptist Seminary will offer a three-day module on the history of the English Particular Baptists. Dr. Michael A. G. Haykin will serve as the lecturer, and he will provide a detailed study of the theology and piety of English Particular Baptists from their origins in the 1630s to the 1830s. Key themes that are treated include: the community’s Trinitarian and Christocentric piety; the confessional heritage; the centrality of the Scriptures and the resulting spirituality of the Word; conversionism; the spirituality of baptism and the Lord’s Supper; and the community’s theology of prayer, praying for revival, and the emergence of the modern missionary movement.

The lectures for this course will serve as part of the curriculum of HT 411 Particular Baptists. RBS students should email the registrar if they want to register to take HT411 for two elective credits. A syllabus with reading and assignments is provided here.

Students, alumni, and auditors are welcome. Emmanuel Baptist Church of Coconut Creek will host the module and may be able to offer lodging to a limited number of registrants.
