Stairway from Heaven: God's Condescension in Christ

In the two lectures below, Dr Bob Gonzales contrasts Babel with Bethel. At Babel sinful humans build a tower to reach God. At Bethel God places a stairway earthward to reach men. Thus, Bethel teaches us that true religion does not come from human effort but from a gracious act of divine condescension that finds its ultimate fulfillment in the incarnation of Christ. Once he expounds this theme, Gonzales attempts to highlight its ramifications for soteriology (sola gratia) and theological method (sola Scriptura). These lectures were delivered at the 2017 Reformation Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
