Graduate Profile: Chad Hutson, MTS
/My name is Chad Hutson and I am a bi-vocational pastor at Lumberport Baptist Church in North Central West Virginia. I was raised in a Christian home with godly parents and grandparents to lead and instruct me, and in a small, rural church with no running water, budget, or attractive activities. I am thankful that what the church did offer was all that I needed: Jesus Christ! From youth, I have been gripped by the grace of God and, despite my many failings, he has never let me go. All glory to God, the Father of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
As is normal for our small-town experience, I pursued theological training after attaining secular professional education and employment. For thirty years I have worked in funeral service, the last twenty as the owner and operator of funeral homes and funeral related businesses. In the meantime, I pursued my education and ordination for ministry through the WV Baptist Convention and entered bi-vocational ministry, working with small, conservative churches in the area.
Awakened to the doctrines of grace after receiving an unsolicited copy of the Philadelphia Confession of Faith (which led me to seek out the 1689 LBCF), I knew that these historic confessions were different than much of what I was taught and answered many of the lingering questions I had concerning the faith. This was the beginning of a decades long journey that eventually led me to Reformed Baptist Seminary. I thank God for the opportunity to learn in an organized, efficient manner, and for the servants he uses to teach me and others like me.
My beloved wife, Michelle, and I are humbled and encouraged by the opportunities provided by RBS. We are prepared to go where God leads, trust in his care, and stand firm in the faith that was once and for all delivered unto us.
After a time of refreshing and rest, I hope to return soon to complete the MDiv program. Remember us in your prayers, and please pray that God would be glorified in our lives and ministry.
