Instructor Profile: John Sweat
/John Sweat teaches Biblical Theology for RBS
Conversion
John was raised in a Christian home. His father was a Southern Baptist Pastor. Though he was brought up in the Scriptures and the church, John was not converted until he was seventeen. The Lord exposed his sin that summer, and for the first time, John realized the depth of his sin and the beauty of Christ as his only hope.
Family
John has been married to Heather since 2010, and they have four girls.
Vocation
John serves as one of the pastors at Heritage Reformed Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Hobbies
John is a rabid University of Georgia football fan. He also enjoys various forms of exercise and spending time with his family.
Church Ministry
John's pastoral duties at Heritage consist of the weekly preaching of the Word, teaching of various kinds in the corporate prayer meeting and Sunday school, counseling/discipleship, and leading the theological training for the men in the church.
Ministry Experience
John served as a youth director for three years while in Bible college. Then, after finishing seminary, John served bi-vocationally as an elder for three years in Florida before coming to Georgia in 2024 to serve full time as a pastor at Heritage.
