Graduate Profile: Lou Jenkins (DTS)
/I live in Gillette, WY. I am married to Veronica, and we have two children: Leland (13) and Morgan (11). For the last 5+ years I have had the privilege of serving on the Pastoral Staff at Living Rock Church in Gillette.
For the first six years of my life, I grew up in a home that was not Christian. In fact, it may have been described as hostile to Christ. Then the Lord reached down, in grace, and miraculously drew my parents to him. From then on, I was raised in a home where we were in church whenever the doors were open.
I quickly learned the rules of church. I quickly figured out the right answers. I became a master at playing the game.
During my youth, I made several professions of faith. One, when I was twelve, bore some fruit, but I struggled with assurance all throughout my teen years. Then, when I was twenty-one, the Lord turned on the lights. At that point, I had a hunger for God and His Word that I’d never had before. I couldn’t put my Bible down, where before I hardly picked it up. I desired, for the first time, to pray. I began to love and value the church, and I wanted others to trust Christ as I had.
Over time, God began drawing me to the ministry of the Word. This was confirmed by my pastor, who recognized God’s call in my life before I did. It became clear, I needed to be trained for this. That led me to RBS.
I am thankful that God led me to RBS. It was exactly what I needed, and I will be forever thankful for it’s shaping in my life and ministry. The habits I’ve learned, and the training I’ve received, will mark my life until Christ returns or calls me home.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Lou M. Jenkins
