Graduate Profile: Michael Emadi, Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
/I grew up in Layton, Utah, a state that is predominantly Mormon. By God’s grace both my parents were Christians and we attended a church of roughly 25 people. Upon graduation from the University of Utah I was commissioned as an Intelligence Officer in the US Air Force. I was first stationed in San Angelo, Texas for Intelligence School. There I attended another small church of roughly 15 people. It was a loving church and the pastor encouraged me to preach several times in his absence. It was because of Pastor Randy Gauwain, though unknown to the world, that I am where I am today.
From Texas I was sent to Misawa, Japan where I led a group of 35 men and woman for almost two years. During this time I had been thinking of my time in Texas and had been considering seminary. When the time came for me to either get out of the Air Force or stay in, I took the opportunity to pursue seminary. While in Japan I had listened to an internet Christian radio program and Dr. Sam Waldron and Dr. Richard Barcellos were on as guests. Dr. Waldron was introduced as the Dean of the Midwest Center for Theological Studies (MCTS) in Owensboro, KY. When I got out of the Air Force, I decided I would visit the MCTS. When I arrived, I loved the people and everything about it. I eventually finished up my course work for the MCTS and transferred over to the Reformed Baptist Seminary to complete my MDiv. Both schools have been invaluable to me and I have learned so much from each.
While in Kentucky I met the woman who would become my wife. She was and still is one of the greatest blessings God has given to me. In 2009 we moved to Utah for a job with the Air Force, this time as a civilian. We needed to save up some money to pay for continuing education. In 2010 our son was born. Then in 2011 our daughter was born. It has been amazing how God has provided at every step. In 2011 I was offered a full scholarship to get a second masters degree in biblical languages from Houston Baptist University. I am currently working on this degree and should graduate in December of 2012.
God continues to pour out His grace on us in opportunities to serve Him. After graduation, we are looking to become missionaries in Ireland. God has opened the door and after much prayerful consideration, my wife and I decided that we are going to pursue this as hard as we can for His glory.
Soli Deo Gloria!
