Graduate Profile: David West (DTS)

I’m an ordinary man serving an extraordinary God. I grew up in Citrus Heights, California, a suburb of Sacramento. I was raised by believing parents, in church, and the church school; I don’t recall a time when I didn’t know Jesus. Yet, I know for certain that I was born a sinner like every other human. At some point, Christ saved me by His mercy and grace. My desire to serve Him, my love for His people and His Word, and the conviction I feel when sinning against a holy God all point to the work of His Spirit in me.

In 1996, the Keeper of the Stars joined me to my wife, Danette, and we now have six children and three grandchildren. Four children still live at home, one is married, and one is serving for a year in South Africa.

Currently, I work full-time as a sales manager and serve as a lay elder/pastor at The Cornerstone Bible Church in Sacramento. I love the saints at TCBC, where our family has attended for over 18 years. I’ve studied at RBS for the purpose of growing in the knowledge of God and being more fully prepared to serve the local church.

My studies at RBS have given me great insights into God’s Word, have furthered my ability to teach and shepherd the saints at TCBC, and have blessed my own spiritual walk. I love to write, and along with teaching and preaching, I pray that God continues to give me opportunities to express the greatness of His glory through the written word.

I have no great ambitions but am happy to serve wherever God uses me. “As each one has received a gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” —1 Peter 4:10

I appreciate the staff and professors at RBS. Thank you to all of them for investing in others for the glory of God, and for preparing men to spread the good news of Jesus Christ around the world.
