Graduate Profile: Dan Loggans, Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.)

I praise God for his mercy and grace towards me in Christ. His kindness has been evident in my life since birth. Born into a pastor’s home, I can’t remember a time when I was not aware of God and His glory revealed in Christ. Through the faithful teaching and preaching of the gospel, God drew me to Himself at a young age and I turned in faith toward Him and in repentance away from my own righteousness and my sin. I give thanks to God for Jesus Christ and the manifold and eternal blessings that I experience in Him. I am not certain of the exact time of my salvation, but believe that when I was nine years old, God, in accordance with His great mercy, caused me "to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1 Pet 1:3).

The Regulative Principle Made Simple

God created man for worship. Jesus declared that the Father is seeking worshippers who will worship Him "in spirit and truth" (John 4:23-24). Not surprisingly, the Shorter Catechism begins by affirming, "Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever." But this raises the question, “How should God be worshiped?”  To be more precise, “What kind of worship pleases God?” The answer is vital. Thankfully, it's not that complicated. Even a child may understand.
